— History
The firm was founded in 2014 to administer a single irrevocable trust. What follows is the chronology of how that work became a multi-family fiduciary firm with multi-billion in assets under stewardship across jurisdictions.
2014
Finnegan Capital LLC is organised as a Wyoming Series LLC. Liam Finnegan, acting through Liam Finnegan LLC, accepts the firm's first trustee mandate.
2015
The firm's first protected Series is established to hold a cross-border operating company on behalf of the founding mandate. The per-Series books, banking, and counsel discipline that defines the firm today is set.
2016
The firm accepts its second and third trustee mandates from referrals of the founding family's counsel. A formal Distribution Committee architecture is adopted across engagements.
2017
A South Dakota trust operations office is opened in Sioux Falls. Henrik Voorhees joins as Chief Trust Officer; the firm formalises its directed-trustee, dynasty, and quiet-trust administrative practice.
2018
The firm crosses $1 billion in assets under stewardship across a small group of family-trust engagements. Margaret Ashford joins as Chief Investment Officer; investment policy is unified across mandates.
2019
A dedicated family office practice is established under a single COO function. Catherine Holloway joins to lead operations; consolidated quarterly reporting is standardised across all engagements.
2020
Finnegan Capital (UK) Ltd. is incorporated and a London office is opened in Mayfair to coordinate with European counsel and serve the firm's growing UK and EU engagements.
2021
A dedicated Estate & Tax Planning practice is established under Eleanor Pemberton. The firm's engagement template now includes domestic and cross-border succession design as a core service line.
2022
The firm crosses $2 billion in assets under stewardship. Geneva and New York offices are opened; private-credit and real-asset desks are formalised under separate senior partners.
2023
Finnegan Capital is named Trust Company of the Year (Americas) at the STEP Private Client Awards and recognised in the Citywealth Magic Circle for the first time.
2024
The firm crosses $3 billion in assets under stewardship and opens its Tokyo office. Naomi Inoue joins to lead the philanthropy and mission-aligned capital practice. São Paulo office follows in the second half of the year.
2025
A Singapore office is opened to serve South-East Asian families and Variable Capital Company structures. The firm crosses $4 billion in assets under stewardship by year-end and is named Trustee of the Year (Multi-Family) by Trust & Estates Magazine.
2026
Finnegan Capital serves as Trustee, Co-Trustee, or Investment Manager for seven family trusts and family offices, with $4.8 billion+ in assets under stewardship across fourteen jurisdictions and a senior partnership of ten.
A firm is not a thing one builds. It is a thing one keeps building, quietly, over the time it takes for a generation to grow up.
